Well, the house is in the stages of being built. The property is the same one that Nobby bought in the other game. It's far enough away from the rest of the community that she can enjoy her solitude and she can indulge in her pastimes when she wants to.
So...she first has to learn how to play guitar, so she tried to achieve a rudimentary grasp of guitar playing first of all, then she went after painting. Since she's new in the neighborhood, she had her first day to herself. But of course, it didn't help that her craving for food interrupted the painting before she could complete Level 1.
Playing guitar always gives Machiko a great opportunity to enjoy herself. And the fact that eventually after she reaches level 5, she can start playing for tips in Central Park makes it a great opportunity. Being a loner helps that nothing breaks her concentration when she wants to achieve a goal.
She's switching to painting so that she can get her level up on that...however...her stomach started interrupting her so she had to turn around and make some dinner. Sometimes it's just better to make a meal for one portion instead of having left-overs. At this stage she splurged for the better fridge because with the other low-end fridge, she would end up having to toss things in two days.
And...morning comes too early. Her bedtime ended up being 2AM the next day.
With my other character Nobby, I went with the painting skill first...and it's a tougher way to go, with the artist route because it takes longer to level up than with the guitar. So what I think I will have Machiko do is concentrate on her guitar until such time as she can get up to Level 5 where she can go play for tips at the park and earn a living that way. With 3,457§ (Simoleons), she's not in danger of losing her house. And perhaps she can make it up to Level 5 in guitar skill in a week or so before the bills get to the point where it eats into a sizeable chunk of her nest-egg.
